Changes to bus schedules

30 November 2009

Residents in mid Norfolk will be able to benefit from new Sunday services to Norwich as part of changes in the local bus service timetable effective from Sunday .

Three new Sunday services will operate a route between Norwich and Watton, Norwich and Dereham and Dereham and Watton.

In a number of other services there will be some minor changes.

The changes have been welcomed by Norfolk County Council passenger transport group manager Chris Limbach who described it as “good news” for bus users.

In the Times area the Konectbus 4A offers an hourly service with Konectbus 3A, the service running to Mattishall and Dereham.

The Dereham to Shipdham and Watton service on the Konectbus 11 is a new Sunday service offering five round trips between Dereham and Watton to link in with services 3A and 4A.

The Konectbus 8 Dereham to Norwich will be increased to operate on an hourly basis.

Norfolk County Council spends around £4.5m a year subsidising bus services which do not attract enough passengers to make them commercially viable. For the county council to subsidise a service, 30 per cent of the cost must be covered by the fares taken.
