A centre which has proved invaluable for Ukrainians is hosting an information and recruitment evening for those looking to help.

The event at Dereham Ukraine Aid Centre will take place on Monday, February 27, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

The centre opened in Wright's Walk in May as a place for people to drop off donations, and where displaced Ukrainians could meet.

This event is an opportunity for people to ask questions of host families, meet Ukraine families and the group's co-founders and volunteers.

Members of Norfolk County Council's People From Abroad team will also be there.

Ian Odgers, one of the centre's co-founders, said: “The fact that the invasion of Ukraine is not the first thing on the news anymore does not mean it is not happening.

“There are still a high number of families looking to be hosting in Dereham and the surrounding areas.”

“Maybe people have been considering hosting but are unsure of the process or what to expect.”
