A group of councillors has donated over 60 Christmas gifts to a charity which assists victims of domestic abuse.

Breckland councillors belonging to the Conservative Party have given gifts to those affected by domestic abuse, with the present initiative being supported by the Daisy programme - these gifts were handed over at Dereham Windmill on December 15.

The Daisy program is a charity supporting adults living with or who have been affected by domestic abuse in Breckland.

It was the third year the Conservative members have helped out, and Alison Webb, Breckland councillor, said: “Yet again, the generosity of my conservative colleagues have amazed me by providing a huge number of presents to brighten these much deserving children's Christmas day.

“Domestic abuse is a pattern of behaviour to try and control a partner, this affects their children and we need to help support them in whatever way we can. The generosity of the Breckland Conservative members is much appreciated - many thanks to all.”

Mrs Webb was joined on the day by councillors Helen Crane, Paul Claussen, Peter Wilkinson and two members of the Daisy team, including Kate Biles, the project co-ordinator, and a member of her team.
