Elderly people in Norfolk are being targeted by scammers who are pretending to be police officers. 

Police have urged locals to remain vigilant after two people were encouraged to withdraw large amounts of money from their bank by fraudsters over the phone.

The first incident of courier fraud happened in Methwold on Monday in which £1,000 and a credit card were taken.

The second happened in Saham Toney, near Watton, sometime between Monday and Tuesday and £4,000 was taken.

Courier Fraud happens when a fraudster contacts a victim by telephone claiming to be a police officer, bank or a government department.

Several techniques will then be used to convince the victim to hand over their bank details or cash, which may then be passed on to a courier.
