A railway station is hosting a 1940s-themed weekend with a steam train, vintage vehicles, crafts stalls and music.

The annual two-day event is set to return on April 6 and April 7 at Whitwell and Reepham Railway.

Running for more than a decade, the vintage weekend promises 1940s fun and nostalgia allowing the community to step back in time at the station.

The free-entry weekend is open for anyone to attend and visitors are encouraged to dress in their finest vintage attire to "jive, jitterbug and swing away to 1940s music all weekend".

Both inside and outside the station various stalls and exhibits will be fronted by local businesses, crafters, artisans, and charities, celebrating all things 1940s.

Outside the station, up to 20 different vintage and military vehicles will be on display, including a vintage tractor.

A spokesman for Whitwell and Reepham Railway Station said: "Last year was one of the best events we've thrown, it's such a good vibe with everyone in their vintage gear, it's really nice to see everyone dressed up."

"We try to incorporate everything people would like at the events, and it's nice to see people learning from history."

The station will be running its steam train all weekend for a pay-on-the-day trip where visitors can "hop on for a jolly down the track".

The station's licensed bar and restaurant will be open to the public between 10am to 6pm.

All funds from the event, which runs from 10am to 4pm, go towards restoration projects and the maintenance of steam trains led by the station's heritage railway charity.
