Developers Taylor Wimpey have applied to Breckland District Council for planning permission to build 62 homes at Shillings Lane, Neatherd Moor, a Dereham beauty spot.

The development was due to be discussed at a meeting on Monday November 20, but the developers have since postponed its discussion.

Campaigner Paul Walmsley, from group Save Neatherd Moor said: “The late withdrawal of their proposal from Monday’s planning meeting by Taylor Wimpey has caused considerable inconvenience and annoyance to many.

“Many people had arranged time off work and babysitters, and 1000 flyers regarding the meeting had been produced and distributed.”

He described their actions as showing “total disregard” and “contempt for residents.”

A spokesperson for Taylor Wimpey said: “In light of the fact that consultees on our planning application for 62 homes off Shillings Lane, Dereham haven’t had sufficient time to respond to our latest proposals, we have agreed with officers from Breckland District Council that the presentation of the proposals to the planning committee is postponed.

“We expect the proposals to be heard at the next committee meeting.”
