Budding science boffins at a Dereham school have been participating in some unusual experiments.

Activities at Toftwood Infant School this week have included dying flowers using food colouring, extracting butter and milk from cream and seeing how long it takes for chocolate bars to melt.

During the week teachers and students from Dereham’s Northgate and Neatherd High schools visited Toftwood to work with the children doing experimental activities.

Kirsty Ponder, science subject leader at Toftwood Infant School, said: “It was an excellent opportunity to work with other schools in the local area, share expertise and for our children to work with older children and learn from them.

“It has been clear that all of the children have enjoyed Science Week through the amount of ‘wows’ and ‘cools’ we have heard!”
