A busy road in Dereham will close later this month after more roadworks were announced.

Norwich Road will close for four days from Tuesday October 23 between 9:30am and 4pm each day for carriageway resurfacing.

The site will extend from the junction with Crown Road eastwards to Union Drift.

Works to improve the traffic lights at the Yaxham Road and Tavern Lane junction, which caused long delays for motorists, have only recently ended.

Drivers were also left frustrated throughout August and September due to delays caused by roadworks on Crown Road, Kings Road and Neatherd Road.

A Norfolk County Council update posted on the Breckland Council Facebook page read: “To minimise disruption the work will be carried out during the school half term holiday between 9.30 am and 4.00 pm and will take four days to complete subject to suitable weather conditions.

“During the resurfacing works it will be necessary to close the road to all through traffic at this location.

“Fully signed official local diversion routes along roads of the same or higher classification will be in operation between 9:30am and 4pm on each day.

“Vehicle access to businesses and properties within the limits of the closure will be maintained from one end at all times. Pedestrian access will be maintained while work is underway.

“Norfolk County Council would like to thank people for their patience while these works to replace the existing worn out road surface are carried out.”
