A mischievous moggy with a taste for adventure is back to his old tricks.

Cooper the celebrity cat from Scarning, near Dereham, has been spotted in all manner of places in the past couple of weeks, proving that his adventurous spirit is still very much alive and well.

Since he first came to Sarah Diack and her family from a rehoming centre he has regularly made the mile-long journey into Dereham town centre to visit his favourite haunts, from the library to the pubs and clubs.

He became so renowned for his exploits Miss Diack set up his own Facebook page so people could report sightings and she could keep track of his whereabouts.

But a year ago he went missing and wasn’t seen for 10 months and many feared the worst.

Then, out of the blue, Miss Diack had a call from Grove Vets in the town saying they had found Cooper.

For a few weeks the black and white cat with his distinctive shortened tail kept close to home, popping out for short while and soon coming back.

But in recent days his Facebook page has been littered with sightings.

From walking to Scarning school with the children, carefully crossing the road with lollipop man Derek, to meeting and greeting at Dereham Church Infant School, his army of fans is growing.

Then on Monday night Kurt Oliver posted: “Cooper has just been asked to leave The Metro (nightclub) in town, he had no ID and we don’t think he is 18. Last seen entering the Red Lion. Obviously in need of a beer this evening.”

This morning he has been in one of his most favourite places - Myhills Pet and Garden on Church Street.

Manager Chris Wilmot posted: “Cooper just came in to Myhills to see our deals on cat food and then nicked a few toys,” with a video of the carefree cat ransacking the shelves, before curling up on a fishing bed-chair for a snooze.

His fame is spreading further than Dereham as Cooper is even featured in the May edition of Your Cat magazine in an article entitled “Keeping tabs on Cooper”.

But maybe his wanderlust is urging him towards an even bigger adventure as earlier this month he popped into Premier Travel.

One follower of his page suggested he may have been booking a holiday to Kathmandu.
