A family said in a statement they were “absolutely devastated” by the loss of a 45-year-old woman who fell to her death from a flyover on the A47.

Elizabeth McManus, of Foundry Close, Foulsham, near Dereham, was a popular pub worker at the Recruiting Sergeant at Horstead and the Buckinghamshire Arms at Blickling. She later worked as a shop assistant.

People attending her funeral at St Margaret’s Church, Felthorpe on Wednesday, November 15 at 11.15am, are asked by the family to wear bright colours to reflect her personality.

Her family said in a statement: “We are absolutely devastated at the loss of our Lizzie; words cannot describe how we all feel. For the short time she was on this earth, she was always a smiling, bubbly character, who was well loved by all who knew her. The love and support displayed by all our family and friends is overwhelming and immensely comforting. Thank you all. We miss her more, everyday.”

Tributes were also paid by the Recruiting Sergeant, which said on its Facebook page: “Lizzie was an important and much loved part of our team for many years and her tragic death has left us devastated.”

Regulars and co-workers have also posted comments on Facebook including Alonso Sanchez, who said: “Lizzie was a lovely person and a great work colleague. “We shared so many work shifts at the Sergeant and we always had a laugh. My thoughts are with her family and her lovely girls.”

Kathryn Palmer said: “We’ve been coming to the Recruiting Sergeant for years and equally love the Buckinghamshire Arms. We were thinking of going, as I was hoping to see her as last time was 12 weeks ago when I was heavily pregnant and she was looking forward to meeting the baby.

An inquest last month heard that she died on October 13 after falling onto the road at Longwater in Costessey. She was also hit by a vehicle.

The provisional cause of death was traumatic injury. A pre-inquest review hearing will take place on February 26, 2018.
