Fundraising event to take place in Dereham in aid of Guide Dogs

A fundraising event is set to take place in Dereham this weekend with all the money raised going to a guide dog charity.

The Open Garden event will take place on Saturday, July 1, at 2.30pm at Felton House and attendees will be able to enjoy live music and tombola while browsing guide dog merchandise and tasting the selection of doughnuts and homemade cakes.

It has been organised by Jill and Graham Darken, and it will be opened by John Carlin, head of the mobility teams at Guide Dogs in Peterborough.

The Guide Dogs charity hosts a number of events throughout the year in order to raise money and highlight their work. Last year their open garden event raised more than £800.

It costs the charity around £50 million to provide the guide dog service and other mobility services. So far they have trained and partnered more than 30,000 guide dogs with people who have loss of sight.
