Important decisions on education in Norfolk could be made “without real world perspective” - it has been claimed.

The Norfolk Schools Forum, a body made up head teachers and academy representatives, is concerned after it was told it would no longer be required to have a representative on Norfolk County Council’s children’s services committee.

Forum chairman Jo Pedlow, who is head of Toftwood Infant School, said: “I worry they will be making decisions with nobody there to give real world perspective.”

A county council spokesman said: “On April 10 council agreed that non-councillor membership of the children’s services committee be reduced to the statutory representatives (the two church representatives) and the children’s services committee should in future consider the purpose and appropriateness of any wider membership.”

The Norfolk Schools Forum will write to the council asking how it intends to take into account the forum’s views.
