Love stories are a cinematic staple, but at Dereham’s Hollywood cinema, one real-life romance is about to reach its happily-ever-after.

Cinema staff Sharon Neave, 46, and Chris Swift, 54, have planned a silver screen special for their wedding at a Norwich hotel.

The couple met four years ago, while working at Dereham Junior Academy.

And Ms Neave, of North Tuddenham, who is also a duty manager at the town’s Hollywood cinema, soon found Mr Swift, who moved to the area in 2008, extra work taking care of the historic cinema building in Dereham marketplace.

They even spent one of their first dates seeing a film there together.

So when the time came to tie the knot, the couple could think of no better way to celebrate their love story than by taking their big day to the big screen.

The pair have planned all sorts of film-themed fun for their guests: from a paparazzi-style photo booth complete with a red carpet, to serving popcorn, candy floss and nachos at the reception.

Tables will be decorated with film reel and clapper centrepieces, and guests can find their way to their seats by way of golden statuette place names - which double up as inventive wedding favour keepsakes.

The wedding invitations even resembled movie tickets - and of course, top of the list were their colleagues. Due to shift patterns, the staff rarely get to enjoy nights out together, but thanks to cover from the Norwich and Great Yarmouth branches, the whole Dereham team can celebrate with the soon-to-be Mr and Mrs Swift, on August 19.

The couple were also keen to involve other small businesses in their big day, with Ms Neave’s dress being made by a friend’s sister, and flowers provided by a Dereham-based florist. Snaps from the service will be taken by a teacher at the school where they met, who has begun work as a wedding photographer.

One of Ms Neave’s three sons will act as best man, while her other two boys will walk her down the aisle. And the couple, who already have five grandchildren between them, as Mr Swift also has a son and three daughters, will have another reason to celebrate in December, when a sixth addition to the family is due.

But first, they said they were looking forward to spending their honeymoon “lying on the beach, in Gran Canaria”.
