Officers were called to St Nicholas Street at 7.20pm on Tuesday December 12 after receiving reports of a lorry in collision with a house.

Low level damage to the building was caused, with bricks and debris left on the road and pavement.

The fire service were called to inspect the building, which they declared safe.

The owner of the house has been informed.

Police confirmed the lorry driver failed to stop at the scene. They are appealing for anyone with information to come forward by calling 101.

Earlier the same day a lorry had caused damage to a building across the street and dislodged a road sign. The driver also failed to stop at the scene of the accident.

Residents expressed fears over the “frequent” incidents and called for restrictions on traffic in the area to be introduced.
