A historic pub in Fakenham appears to have reopened under new management.

The Bull, in Bridge Street, closed at the beginning of June, much to the sadness of its regulars.

But there have been reports that the pub has now reopened and the Times understands it has been taken over by a couple
who used to run a pub in
Cromer, although we have been
so far unable to make contact with them.

Town councillor Richard Crook said he had also heard it had reopened and said it would be “very welcome”.

He added: “It was a real shame when it shut. It was serving the market, doing quality food and real ales and was the traditional country pub.”

The Bull is recorded to have been a pub as far back as 1837.

It was given its name as it was located on Bull Street, which is now Bridge Street.

It is said that the road’s name was changed after a visit to Fakenham from the soon-to-be Queen Victoria.
