County council meetings in Norfolk could soon be broadcast live via the internet.

A motion has been proposed by Labour councillor David Rowntree to discuss improving public access to Norfolk County Council committee meetings, with live web streaming of full council meetings among his suggestions.

His motion says: “With the expansion of reliable broadband links it is now appropriate to live stream full council meetings and to improve public access to proceedings.”

If full council agrees to the motion, the full council’s annual meeting in May could be the first to have a live web stream.

The motion also proposes the possibility of making audio recordings of main council committee meetings available to the public on request, with this also beginning from May 2018.

Mr Rowntree’s motion has been seconded by fellow Labour councillor Jess Barnard.

It will be discussed by councillors at full council on Monday.
