Necton Parish Council has said they will not be taking any further action over calls for a wind farm substation to be renamed.

In a parish council meeting on Monday councillors said they are unable to have the substation, named Necton Substation, renamed despite the concerns raised by a number of residents.

The substation is linked to an offshore wind farm operated by Dudgeon Offshore Wind Limited and was named in December.

When a sign was erected residents began calling for it to be changed due to fears that the village will become linked to the substation and house prices will be affected.

The National Grid is responsible for the name and a spokesperson said their policy is to use the name of a nearby village or town to prevent confusion over the site’s location in the event of an emergency.

“We take the same approach elsewhere on our network when a new site is established,” they added.
