Police drew a Taser stun gun and used an incapacitant spray as they helped the ambulance service treat a man who was behaving violently in Dereham on Sunday night.

Norfolk police were called to Quebec Street in Dereham at around 8.30pm on November 5, following reports of a man behaving aggressively towards a paramedic.

A crew from the East of England Ambulance Service had been treating a man who had become violent, so the police were called to help.

The police drew a Taser and used PAVA spray - an incapacitant spray similar to pepper spray - but nobody was hurt.

The ambulance service were responding to a 999 call, which was received at 8.30pm informing them a man had been taken unwell.

An ambulance car was sent and the patient was taken to hospital with assistance from Norfolk Police.

It is understood the man is being treated under the mental capacity act.
