Archant

A resident in Reepham was puzzled when she spotted a white transit van parked on the driveway on Thursday.

When she went out to question the driver he abruptly asked if she wanted to buy any exhibition wooden furniture. She quickly declined and the driver left.

Norfolk Constabulary revealed details of the Reepham resident’s strange visitor in a bid to highlight concerns over rogue traders operating in the area.

PC Peter Davison, North Norfolk Engagement Officer, said: “Unfortunately not everyone who calls at your property is a genuine caller. The person on your doorstep could be a legitimate caller, a rogue trader, or even a distraction burglar. Please report anything suspicious as soon as possible to police on 101. Always dial 999 in an emergency.”

To avoid becoming a victim of rogue traders, police advise residents to never accept an offer from someone who comes to your house without an appointment.
