Over 70 students in Year 11 Dereham’s Neatherd High School were rewarded for excellent reports they received for the work experience they completed with a variety of employers.

The students had placements at schools, offices, shops, but also at farms or animal sanctuaries. Most of them stayed within Norfolk, but some travelled to London, Manchester and Cambridgeshire to complete their experience.

Students received certificates at a special rewards assembly.

Clare Fox, careers facilitator for the NHS, said: “Work experience is such a good chance for pupils to gain an insight in the world of work.”

Jo Pedlow, headteacher at Toftwood Infant and Junior Schools, hosted four students. She said: “Work experience is an invaluable skill for young people to have and it always looks good on your CV.”

Dafydd Humphreys, assistant headteacher, said the school really valued the support from local businesses.
