Rob Lyon has solved the first part of a major King’s Lynn puzzle by keeping hold of Robert Lambert, writes Gavin Caney.

The Stars were rocked around a fortnight ago when number one Niels-Kristian Iversen turned his back on the Elite League. But the Dane’s former team-mate – who progressed from being a second-string to a heat leader last season – has provided a major boost for not only Lynn but the English top-flight by penning a deal to remain at the Adrian Flux Arena in 2016.

Stars owner Buster Chapman said: “There is no doubt that Robert has what it takes to be a top rider in the sport and we are delighted he is coming back to ride for us. He ended last season as our second highest averaged rider behind Niels and I am sure he will continue to progress even further next year.

“Robert is an entertainer and that’s what the supporters love to see every week. We want to have a team next year that will give the fans exciting action every week and he will play a part in that with his ruthless style and determination to win.”

The Foulsham-based racer – set for a third successive season with Lynn’s senior side next year as well as competing in the UK’s second tier with Newcastle, riding in Sweden and featuring for a yet-to-be named German team – cemented his growing reputation as one of the hottest prospects in Europe this summer by starring for Britain at the World Cup.

He joins reserves Lewis Kerr and Lewis Rose in being named in Lynn’s team for next season.
