Dereham Golf Club hosted the County Girls’ Autumn Meeting with 20 youngsters playing a Stableford and 11 pairs of girls and adults playing nine holes greensomes.

The Autumn Shield was won by Hope Neild of Royal Norwich with a fantastic 48 points with Dereham’s Maisie Farrelly in second place with 43 points and Jasmine Campbell of Royal Norwich third with 39. In the nine-hole event Helen McAllister and Eve Neild – Hope’s younger sister – took the top prize with 22 points. Lauren Roberts and Sammy Martin were second on 18 points while Lily Farrelly and Jane Bizley were third.

County organiser Carol Delf gave a report on the county girls’ successes throughout the year and announced that Dereham and Swaffham’s Sian Fenn-Green would be the girls’ county junior captain for 2015. She takes over from Jess Dixon.

The juniors’ final meeting of the season was followed by the presentation of prizes for the year.

The Handicap Challenge, for the player with the greatest reduction in handicap in the playing season, was won by Chloe Gibbs, who reduced her handicap by 17 shots from 36 to 19.

Chloe also finished top – but only just – in the Norfolk Order of Merit for accumulating the most points in Norfolk Junior Girls competitions over the course of the year. Chloe finished with 317 points, one ahead of runner-up Sian Fenn Green.

The Brancaster Shield, awarded to the individual who has accumulated the most points for their successes in Norfolk and further afield, went to Royal Cromer’s Amelia Williamson (1,270 points) from runner-up Ellie Brown from Barnham Broom. County colours were awarded to Chloe Rowswell, Amy Taylor and Sian Fenn Green.

• Nine Dereham junior boys took part in the inaugural Peter Clarke Salvers held at Royal Norwich. The winners of the scratch prize were Toby Lane and Giles Evans while Dereham’s Liam Kevern and partner Rob Ellis of Swaffham picked up the winners handicap prize with a net 72.
