Dereham put in two promising performances at the weekend in the Premier B section of the East League but came away with mixed results, winning the first game and losing the second.

On Saturday they hosted a West Herts II team fighting to avoid relegation and played with intensity going forward, creating a number of excellent opportunities.

The deadlock was broken in the first half as midfielder Guy Crookes surged forward to the top of the D and scored a superb reverse stick strike.

Dereham continued to pressurise the visitors after the break but were unable to convert chances into goals.

West Herts drew level in the second half before Dereham scored again through a powerful reverse stick strike from forward Falko Rosbergen.

The game finished 2-1 to the hosts, setting Dereham up nicely for a second game of the weekend.

Sunday saw Dereham host a travelling Bourne Deeping team. Having played on the Saturday there were lots of tired legs, but the hosts put in an encouraging performance nonetheless.

Dereham put together some promising passages of play going forward but failed to convert the opportunities.

The game was still 0-0 at half-time but Bourne Deeping pulled ahead in the second half after a well-worked short corner.

Dereham managed to get a goal back in the second half thanks to an excellent short corner strike from Will Edwards, before Bourne Deeping scored another short corner moments before the final whistle.

The game finished 2-1 to the visitors, breaking a run of successive wins for Dereham.

There’s a mouthwatering game to look forward to on Saturday, with local rivals Norwich City providing the opposition at Greenfields Road.

Dereham seconds lost 3-1 in Division Two North East to leaders Harleston Magpies II and stay fifth.

Dereham Ladies faced a tough match in East League Division One North, with free-scoring leaders Harleston Magpies II paying a visit.

Dereham gave a good account of themselves but couldn’t prevent the Magpies from winning 2-1 to seal a 12th successive win.

Dereham are at home again on Saturday against Colchester, who stand one place above them in the table in fourth.
