Hindringham scored two late goals to draw 2-2 with promotion-chasing visitors UEA in Division One of the Anglian Combination.

Looking to build on last week’s win, the hosts played their part in a thrilling match that was played in far from ideal conditions.

The game started very evenly and was end to end, resulting in a UEA player getting the ball into the area and for the striker to finish well.

This did not stop Hindringham battling for every ball on a pitch that was now cutting up and becoming slippery and they created chances at every opportunity.

The second half started much the same and again a very good ball into the Hindringham area was taken down very well by the same UEA striker, Mohammed Hassan, who finished well.

Still this did not stop Hindringham battling with the new management duo of Gill and Hood encouraging the work rate and making two substitutions.

Regan Sadler scored in the 88th minute with what was his first goal in senior football to reduce the arrears and there was still one more twist as the game entered added-on time as Kevin Clipston scored from inside the penalty area to send all the players and management in to a mass celebration.

Managers Gill and Hood have given players a real sense of belief that they are a good side and they now need to keep working hard together after taking a fully deserved point from the game.

This Saturday Hindringham, who are now seven points clear of the bottom two with two games in hand on the sides below them, are away to Watton (kick-off 2.30pm).

The Reserves, who won 1-0 at Thorpe Village on Saturday (Ryan Heslin) are at home to Castle Acre (kick-off 2pm).

In the Premier Division Bradenham shared the points with Hellesdon as the sides fought out a 2-2 draw. George Watts-Sturrock scored both of Bradenham’s goals while Tom Blake did likewise for Hellesdon.

It was an afternoon to forget for Mattishall as hosts Waveney had the biggest victory of the day, winning 5-0. Bradley Hough, Sam Shepherd, Ritchie High, Daniel Tacon and Tom Morford got the goals.

Bradenham are at home to St Andrews on Saturday while Mattishall hit the road again to take on Hellesdon. Both matches get under way at 2pm.
