King’s Lynn Town and Dereham Town land home ties in second qualifying round of the FA Cup

Norfolk’s remaining non-league sides will not have to travel far when they continue their interest in this season’s competition.

Southern League Premier Division King’s Lynn Town’s rewards for thumping lower-tier Brigg Town 6-1 at home on Saturday is another Walks fixture in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.

Gary Setchell’s side will welcome same-level Ryman League Premier Division Harlow Town – who were promoted to Step Three of the part-time pyramid by winning their set-up’s Division One North play-offs last season.

Dereham Town, who finished six places behind Lynn’s opponents in 2015/16, also open their doors for the second game in a row in the prestigious national knockout having edged visiting Holbeach United 2-1 at the weekend.

But it’ll be a far more daunting task for Matt Henman’s Magpies this time around having seeing off two sides that play below them in the ladder to ensure their name was in the hat for this afternoon’s draw at Wembley.

Dereham have landed an Aldiss Park showdown with National League South St Albans City, a team plying their trade at the second-highest grade of the English game outside of the Football League. The Magpies compete two rungs below that.

Both fixtures will be played on Saturday, September 17 with the winners – possibly via a replay – progressing to the penultimate qualifying stage and pocketing £4,500 prize money.
