  • I could see last night why Lafferty isn't getting a game and nobody wanted to buy him. He looked like a man happy to sit on his backside and accept the big money. Chalk and cheese v Jerome.

  • With Tettey needed to work with the shaky back 4, Howson needed to be cutting out Shelvey. Howson was unable to get anywhere near Shelvey, who ran the show in the second half. Wes kept coming back to tackle Shelvey, which cost City his attacking potential and allowed Newcastle to dominate the second half. Wildschut is struggling to justify the price tag and may well end up warming the bench with Naismith. We have to be happy with what was, by the end, a fortunate point.
