Wendling campsite welcomes in winter with festive market and grotto
17:29 18 November 2015
It might not feel like the ideal weather for camping but that doesn’t deter the Fire Pit Camp in Wendling from welcoming in winter.
On Saturday, November 28 it will open a luxury Santa’s Grotto along with a festive market and a party in their urban style warehouse space.
The unique campsite has been overwhelmed by the response to the venue, which this year was selected to make the Cool Camping Guide Book, as well as being chosen by The Independent as one of The Big Six Best UK Campsites and making The Guardian’s Top Ten of the Best Places to Pitch a Tent.
Now, after a successful camping season this summer in their small meadow, which also saw two festival weddings take place and A Forgotten Foods Festival with Slow Food Anglia and Norfolk Food & Drink Limited, the team in Wendling have turned their attention to winter events and their new Warehouse Bar.
The Festive Market and party will be opened at 11am by local choir RockaVox from JDT Music and all ticket holders will be welcomed with a complimentary glass of mulled wine and children will get the chance to meet and feed the real reindeers Comet and Dancer who make an appearance between 2pm and 4pm.
There is a wonderful line up of local, talented stall-holders selling gifts, furniture, jewellery and crafts along with food, coffee bar and cocktails.
Confimed stall holders include Carolyn Ash (of GoGo Dragon fame this year!), Flora Fairweather Crochet and Knitted Clothing, Little Fleurie bespoke handmade dolls, Stubenhocker designer furniture, Mary Maxey Miller Vintage, Taylors Smokery, Fabulous Monsters Jewellery, Seaside Neil Art, Wild Stems Floristry of Thetford, with more being announced via The Fire Pit Camp Facebook Page in the run up to the event.
Entrance is £3 and includes a family disco set by Rattle Baby Disco from 3pm-5pm.
The Wren’s Nest, the campsite’s hazel dome bender tent, is being transformed into a most unique, magical grotto, that seeks to be a little different to the norm.
Tickets are on sale now for £15 (one child and one adult to accompany them) and will include being welcomed in to The Wren’s Nest for hot chocolates in china tea cups with cream, marshmallows and cookies, time for a story with Father Christmas by the fire, an activity of making your own magic reindeer oats to take home before joining the Present Elf on the wooden mezzanine to receive a gift. An additional festive mini bar will be open to serve adults drinks too.
All tickets are available now at www.thefirepitcamp.co.uk
The natural playing fields and retro double decker bus will also be open for the event.
