Road works to improve a pedestrian crossing at a busy town junction have finished ahead of time.
Since January, Matsell Way in Dereham has undergone improvements such as widening the crossing, repairing the road and pavement surface and laying pipes.
The works were expected to take eight weeks - however, it opened four days earlier than expected.
A Norfolk County Council spokeswoman said: “We can confirm the proposed work at Matsell Way in Dereham was completed on March 11, ahead of schedule.
“This includes widening the pedestrian crossing on Matsell Way, road surface maintenance and pavement resurfacing on the east side of Matsell Way as well as ducting works.”
A signed diversion route was put in place via upper Matsell Way, Neatherd Road, Crown Road and Norwich Road, while access was maintained for residents.
It will come as a relief to The Original Factory Shop, and Fitzherberts, which runs from inside the shop.
Fitzherberts, which houses products from 45 local sellers, said the closure led to a drop in footfall.
