A man in his 40s has been jailed for starting a blaze which tore through a flat and several gardens.
Robert Smith, of Waples Way, Dereham, was sentenced at King's Lynn Crown Court on Monday (November 28) to four years in prison.
It follows an incident which saw emergency services called to Metamec Drive, off South Green in Dereham, in the early hours of October 19 last year.
Firefighters spent just over an hour at the scene as flames ripped through garden sheds and fences and spread to an adjacent flat.
Police and the fire service subsequently launched a joint investigation in a bid to establish how the fire was started.
Smith, 43, was later charged with arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered.
In June, he was found guilty of five counts of arson at King's Lynn Crown Court following a five-day trial.
This week, he was sentenced to four years in prison for two counts of arson, and two years in prison for the remaining three counts. His jail terms will run concurrently.
