A pair of period cottages in need of a complete renovation have been sold together at auction.

The two semi-detached properties, off the A075 Shipdham Road, Toftwood, went for £171,000 in a sale on Wednesday (December 7).

No. 110 Shipdham Road, on the right-hand side, was lived in until fairly recently. However, no. 108 has not been inhabited for a number of years.

Both have been under the same ownership for the past five decades, but have fallen into disrepair, with countless old items and furniture left inside.

The two cottages interconnect on the first floor and, between them, have three bedrooms.

In its auction notes, Auction House East Anglia said they would require a complete programme of renovation or redevelopment and would suit a developer.

The auctioneers added that the large rear garden would allow for the overall property to be extended subject to planning permission being granted.

The cottages were sold as seen with the remaining contents included in the price.
