Norfolk: Yaxham CoE Primary School given good Ofsted report

Staff at Yaxham Church of England Primary School are celebrating following its recent Ofsted inspection, which raised its rating from a school 'requiring improvement' to 'good'.

The report comes after a two-day visit in January after its two previous reports in May 2019 and December 2016.

Headteacher Jennie Müller and chair of governors Michelle Parnell were delighted to share the outcome of the inspection, saying in a joint statement: “We are so proud of the progress we have made as a school, which is down to the hard work and dedication of everyone within the school community.

“It comes at the perfect time, as we begin the next phase of our journey in joining the Diocese of Norwich Education and Academies Trust.”

The chair of the governors at the school, near Dereham, sent a letter of thanks to the community, adding: ”It has been a sometimes rocky path, littered with difficult decisions and some very tough conversations not to mention a global pandemic.

“However, one thing that has always been true is the desire to make sure that every single child will flourish and achieve and that is so very obviously apparent when you speak to staff, children, governors, parents and carers past and present.

“Our amazing team at Yaxham have always given their all and I want to thank each and every one of them for giving so much and continuing to do so. They all have so much passion and work so hard to ensure that our children receive the best experiences while they are at school.”

Ofsted praised the school's positive relationships between pupils and staff, a “broad and ambitious curriculum” and how well children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are supported.

Ofsted identified areas for further improvement in a few areas of the curriculum.
