There could soon be four coffee shops in a row in Dereham's high street.

Scoffs Group has submitted plans to Breckland Council to open a new branch of Costa Coffee in the former Prezzo building at 41 Market Place.

The shop has been empty since the Italian restaurant closed in February 2021, after the business went into administration.

If successful - the Costa would be located between a Starbucks and a Greggs.

And earlier in March, plans were approved to change the former Yours Clothing store - next to Greggs - into a new restaurant or coffee shop.

In documents supporting the application, it says it will install external timber signage and a canopy light - both painted ‘Costa red’, as well as new access ramps.

Costa already has a shop in Nelsons Place in Dereham which is only a minute's walk from the newly proposed premises.

This newspaper has asked Costa to comment on the future of that shop if its new plans are approved.
