A new parkrun could soon find its route to the finish line.

Alison Web, Breckland councillor for Dereham Neatherd, has provided an update on bringing parkrun to the town following a meeting to view potential routes.

Mrs Webb, alongside county, district, and town councillors, Active Norfolk, runners from Dereham, and doctor Simon Carroll, who represents five local surgeries, were joined by parkrun officials to scout out the routes on November 4.

“I feel that we are now getting closer to making a parkrun for Dereham possible and at this stage, I will leave it in the officials’ very capable hands and standby for where and when I can help,” Mrs Webb said.

“It was a very constructive meeting and the parkrun officials are as keen as a lot of our community to make a Dereham parkrun possible.

"The next stage is for the officials to look at all the options and to take the project further, if suitable.”

The Breckland councillor thanked all those who supported the project since she first raised the proposal last month.
