English football fans hoping for a grand performance from the national team at next year's Euros will be able to find the perfect viewing platform at a mid-Norfolk pub.

Dereham's Railway Tavern will have a 300-person grandstand in its grounds for summer's European Championship finals, which will be held in Germany.

It will be the first time the stand has been up since the World Cup in 2018, and Paul Sandford, pub landlord, said he was delighted it was making a comeback.

Mr Sandford said the Yaxham Road pub's set-up would be "worth the wait".

He said: “It’s been a long time in the planning. Due to Covid we obviously couldn’t put it up, so we are delighted to be able to bring back a new improved stand.

“We’ve also added to the arena with extra toilets and bar facilities.

"None of this would be possible without our amazing sponsors Spartech and the professional knowledge of NAP Scaffolding."

The stand will be decorated with the colours of all teams competing.

Tickets for the group games are £5 each or all three for £10. An 8ft-by-8ft LED screen is the centrepiece of the 20 screens on show, all of which are part of the pub's £7,000 installation for the Euros.

Fifty early bird tickets will go on sale on December 6, and more in the New Year.

The Three Lions were drawn into Group C and will kick off against Serbia on June 16 in Gelsenkirchen, before taking on Denmark on Thursday, June 20 in Frankfurt, before concluding their group in Cologne on Tuesday, June 25 against Slovenia.

Mr Sandford said he hoped the pub would be popular throughout the tournament.

He said: “On the stand, we want to attract fans from all entrants, not just England games. everyone is welcome at the Railway Tavern."
