An eyewitness to a stabbing in Dereham described how police flooded Church Street in the early hours of today.
Police were called to the scene and three people were arrested after a man in his 40s suffered two stabs wound and a head injury.
The corner of Church Street and Saint Withburga Lane, in front of St Nicholas' church, was cordoned off by police.
The eyewitness lives in Crown Place, which overlooks the area where the incident happened.
He said that around 1.45am he was woken up by a commotion out on the street.
He said: "There was police everywhere, they filled up the road. I saw the two girls and a lad get arrested.
"There was an air ambulance for the poor bloke who got stabbed," he added.
He believes that the man who was stabbed was trying to stop the fight between the two females.
"I didn't get to bed until around 4 in the morning," he added.

The man who suffered stab wounds has been discharged from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, where he was taken for treatment.
A male teenager, female teenager and a woman in her 20s have been arrested in relation to the incident on suspicion of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
The three suspects remain at King's Lynn, where they were taken for questioning.
Police lifted the cordon around 1.30pm today.
The investigation remains ongoing.
