A new housing development nestled on the outskirts of a Norfolk town will open to the public for the first time this weekend.

The Carriages sits on the northeast edge of Dereham and is made up of 129 homes with properties starting at £260,000.

They have been built by Abel Homes, a firm that focuses on creating sustainable housing with features including solar panels, air source heat pumps and electric car charging points.

The homes are also surrounded by plenty of green space.

Members of the public will be able to explore the first phase of the houses in a launch event running from Friday to Monday.

Interested parties should contact William H Brown Dereham which is marketing the site.

Andrew Stone, the agency's regional land and new homes director, explained there is currently a "great demand for sustainable new homes in the area".

"We’re excited to be able to bring locals a host of new housing options in Dereham," he said.

"Abel Homes is a high-quality developer with a strong reputation for building beautiful energy efficient homes and well thought-out communities.

"We believe our local customers will be really impressed."
