A music festival at Dereham Town Football Club drew a crowd of 1,000 people.

The Party on the Park event, the first of its kind in the town, saw headline acts Utah Saints and Slipmatt perform at Aldiss Park.

The Utah Saints later applauded the event's success and its management.

The festival also featured performances from Ruddaz, Harry Pearce, and local DJs Rev, Ralphy, Rangy, and L3X.

The festival was hailed as a community effort, with locals organising the event and volunteers playing a key role in its success.

Lee Rudd, who helped put on the successful event, said: "There were many moving parts which worked really hard to bring this event to Dereham, hosted by locals for the local community with massive support from volunteers on the day which were integral to its success."

In April, Dereham Town Football Club had its licensing application for events like a fireworks night and the Party on the Park approved by Breckland Council.

The club put in the licence application as it wanted to host more events at Aldiss Park on Norwich Road to make better use of its facilities.

It also wanted to make the club a community hub for the town, which would also help keep it financially stable and bring back its youth team.

At the licensing meeting one neighbour was worried the noise from the events at the club would have a negative impact on her health.

However, the club said it would communicate information ahead of the events so that neighbours were aware and would be able to make any necessary arrangements.

After the licence was granted, the club said on its Facebook page: "We are delighted to announce that Dereham Town Sports and Leisure has received confirmation from Breckland Council that we can carry out larger community events at our facility."
