A woman accused of fleeing the scene of a crash and drink driving has denied both charges.

Tia Banthorpe, 26, appeared in the dock at Norwich Magistrates' Court, where she pleaded not guilty to drink driving and failing to stop after a crash on Mary Unwin Road in Dereham on August 5.

Sarah Fiddy, prosecuting, told the court that police initially arrested a man, but witnesses told officers they had seen Banthorpe get out of the driver's seat of the VW Tiguan before departing the scene following the crash.

Miss Fiddy said that when officers arrested at her home address at Metamec Drive, Dereham, shortly after the incident, she was in the shower.

Police breathalysed her and she blew 65 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath - almost double the legal limit of 35.

The court heard that damage was caused to the garden of a property on Mary Unwin Road.

Banthorpe was released on unconditional bail and will face a trial over the two alleged offences at the same court in June 2026.
