Drivers will face diversions this weekend as a major project on the A47 continues.

The road will be closed in both directions between Longwater and Dereham from 8pm on May 29 to 6am on June 1.

The closures are part of a major £250m project by National Highways to turn the five-mile stretch from North Tuddenham to Easton into a dual carriageway .

During the closure, side-road access to this section of the A47 will be shut from 7.30pm and those living directly on the A47 will be escorted through the closure when needed.

The official diversion route is approximately 65 miles long, with westbound traffic being directed eastwards on the A47, joining the A11 and leaving at Thetford to join the A134 heading northwest.

At Mundford, drivers will take the A1065 north towards Swaffham and then re-join the A47 at Swaffham heading east, with eastbound traffic doing the route backwards.

The same area of road was closed last month for three days with the same 65-mile diversion route.

The project is expected to come to an end in 2027.
