A newly refurbished tennis court described as "an important investment" has opened in a village.

The facility is located on the playing field off Shipdham Lane in Scarning, near Dereham.

It was first unveiled on Tuesday (July 7), with the aim of encouraging healthy lifestyles and community participation.

The improved court also hopes to provide "opportunities for people of all ages to take up or continue playing tennis".

A spokesman for the Scarning Playing Field Committee said the facility represents "an important investment in the village's sporting facilities".

They added: "The project has been made possible thanks to the generous support of Charles Armstrong and the Geoffrey Watling charity, together with funding and commitment from the Scarning Playing Field Committee.

"The refurbished tennis court is now open and available for community use, marking another positive step in maintaining and enhancing Scarning's recreational facilities for future generations".

The committee also expressed their gratitude for the donations which helped turn the project into reality.

The court is one of two available in the village.
