Norfolk is packed with welcoming Indian restaurants, from modern street‑food spots in Norwich to cosy village curry houses.

Many also offer inventive regional dishes, vegan options and award‑winning menus across the county.

Here are five that have been named as some of the best across the county.

1. Downham Tandoori

Downham Tandoori, in Downham Market, won big at the Southern Curry Awards in May, taking home both the regional and overall Indian Restaurant of the Year titles.

The establishment, which serves "authentic Indian Cuisine", was also commended in the Team of the Year category.

It was the first time the restaurant had entered a competition during the 29 years they have been open, and Anwar Ali, who runs the venue, said the win was "really special".

2. Dhaba 15

Dhaba 15, based in Magdalen Street in Norwich, took home both the regional and overall titles for the East of England at the Southern Curry Awards 2026, held at the Crowne Plaza in Reading earlier this year.

Dhaba 15 has been running there since 2015 and sits just a short walk from the city centre.

The restaurant offers a carefully crafted Indian street food menu, mixing slow‑cooked curries, tandoori favourites and creative small plates with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options.

3. Spice Valley

The Spice Valley, which is also based on Magdalen Street in Norwich, was awarded the title at this year’s British Curry Championship.

The Indian restaurant and takeaway serves classic curries alongside seafood specials and tandoori grills, with a menu that ranges from lobster and crab to vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free favourites.

4. Rani's Indian Dining and Bar

Rani's, located on Norwich Road in Yaxham, near Dereham, is a family-run restaurant and bar known for generous portions, friendly service and a menu that ranges from classic favourites to house specials.

It also offers a popular four-course Sunday deal that keeps regulars coming back.

This year, the eatery took home gold for Outstanding Indian Restaurant of the Year at the British Curry Awards.

5. Namaste Village

In 2025, Namaste Village, on Queens Road in Norwich, was named one of the best establishments for casual dining in the UK in the Tripadvisor awards.

With a rating of 4.9 out of 5 and more than 2,500 excellent reviews, it is no surprise that this traditional Indian restaurant ranked 12th.

The travel website describes Namaste as being located "in a beautiful historic building".

"Decorated with an Indian village theme and dishes served by an Indian chef make Namaste Village a unique experience where authenticity and rich Indian culture are shared with guests," Tripadvisor added.
