A five-bedroom property above a former fish and chip shop could be transformed into two flats.

The proposals have been put forward by a Mr M Demilaray for the closed Mariners Plaice on Quebec Street, Dereham.

It marks the second time an application was lodged for the site after plans were refused earlier this year.

The current layout shows two bedrooms, a living room, and a bathroom on the first floor, with a kitchen and three bedrooms on the second floor.

If approved, this would change to include a kitchen/dining room, bedroom, living room and shower on both floors.

Previous plans were blocked by Breckland Council in March, citing "insufficient information" that the development would not cause adverse impacts to protected habitats.

A design and access statement said the work will have "minimal, if any" impact on the structural integrity of the building.

It added that the plans would see "an improvement in residential accommodation within this area of the town".

The application can be viewed in full on the council's planning portal, using the reference: PL/2026/0855/FMIN.
