A group of former cricket players from two past rival clubs reunited for a special event last weekend.

Brisley and North Elmham Cricket Club, based near Dereham, hosted the reunion before a home game on August 15.

The two clubs merged into one team in 2022 and played their first season the following year.

The reunion was organised by Rob Drew, whose father John was a founding member of the Brisley club and helped build its first clubhouse.

Up to 24 past cricketers from Brisley and North Elmham attended, with the most senior 11 having a combined age of 943.

Both sets of players renewed old acquaintances, remembered old rivalries, and saw how the club is prospering.

A spokesman for the club said: "It was a great opportunity for former teammates to catch up and share memories.

"All agreed that this should not be a one off and plans are already in hand for an event in 2027".

The club runs two Saturday teams as well as a ladies team in the Norfolk Cricket Leagues.
