Drivers will face months of closures due to footpath works costing £125,000.

Norfolk County Council will begin work on Sandy Lane in Dereham, between Swaffham Road and Sandy Lane East, on September 28.

The project is expected to take more than three months to complete, finishing on January 15, 2027.

A spokesman for the council said: "To enable the resurfacing works to be carried out safely, temporary road closures will be implemented in phases, progressing northwards along Sandy Lane from Swaffham Road."

The junctions at Elvin Road with Sandy Lane, St Hilda Road with Sandy Lane, Sandy Lane at No. 138, opposite the recreation ground and Sandy Lane at No. 46 will be affected.

The scheme involves replacing the worn-out footway surface, along with damaged kerbs.

Signed diversion routes will be in place throughout the works and access to private properties within the works area will be maintained.

"There may be short periods when access is temporarily restricted while surfacing activities are under way," the spokesman added.

"Site staff will be available to advise locals and road users and will work to keep any delays to a minimum."
