Firefighters used an aerial ladder to extinguish a fire which had caught hold in a bulb at a village church.

The fire broke out in the bulb at Weston Longville All Saints Church just after 11.30am this morning.

A crew from Sprowston and another from Reepham were initially sent to the small fire, but due to the height of the bulb called for back-up in the form of an aerial ladder platform and support appliance from Earlham.

Once they were at the height of the bulb, firefighters used hand appliances to put out the fire.

The church, on Church Farm Close, was evacuated. No-one was injured and no damage was done to the building.
