Baby, the European eagle owl, has been found safe and well, much to the joy of a Norfolk family.

A family in Beetley was desperately searching for Baby, after she went missing on March 25.

News of the search for the almost 3ft tall owl, which has a 6ft wing span, was published on the Dereham Times and Eastern Daily Press websites.

Family member Marc Tyler said today on social media: “Very pleased to say Baby is back home. We cannot thank you or your readers enough - with everyone’s help we managed to retrieve our bird. She was found at the Watton end of Shipdham by Anglian Water workers. Thank you again.”

The family were concerned that Baby might have struggled to survive on her own and was likely to be “scared and hungry”.

She has been their pet for nearly 10 years and was dearly missed.
