A scheme to create a new camping and caravanning park near Swanton Morley looks set to be given the green light when it goes back before planners on Monday, November 24.

R G Medler Farming Ltd's plans for a 50 pitch camping site on 1.4 hectares of agricultural land at Bylaugh Park were discussed by Breckland Council's planning committee on November 3.

But the committee decided to defer making their decision whether to let it go ahead to visit the proposed site on November 21.

The site is about 800m north west of Bylaugh Hall between Swanton Morley and Bawdeswell Breckland.

It would include 30 pitches for touring caravans and 20 pitches for tents, two new buildings to house a reception office and a shower and toilet block and a new access road off the B1147.

The site falls within the walled confines of the original parkland linked to Bylaugh Hall and income from the campsite would be used in part to fund the repair and maintenance of the estate walling next to the B1147, a report to the committee states.

Andreus Medler has told the Times he would like to create a nice quiet campsite where people could unwind relax and enjoy the countryside.

Bylaugh Parish Meetinghas objected to the plans because of fears the camping site would intrude on the rural landscape and cause road safety problems.

A number of local residents have also written to Breckland Council voicing similar concerns.

It is tipped to be approved.
