Body of man found on Dereham moor

The body of a man has been found on a popular dog walking spot in mid-Norfolk this morning.

Police were called to the scene at about 5am and the body of the man was found at a spot on Neatherd Moor, a large green open space with woodland, play area and pond on the edge of Dereham.

A spokesman said they were treating the death as unexplained it was not believed to be suspicious.

A dog walker this morning said he saw four police cars and a police van with blacked out windows at the moor near the swings early in the morning.

But by 8.30am the scene had been cleared.

Police confirmed the body of the man had been removed from the scene and taken to the mortuary at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

And they were in the process of contacting his next of kin.

The area is used by school children getting to the nearby Neatherd High School. Dog walkers there by 9am this morning were unaware anything had happened at the moor.
