A children's nursery in Dereham has re-opened after a 'devastating' break-in.
A safe containing about �40 was stolen and hundreds of pounds of damage was done by intruders at the Magic Tree Day Nursery at Yaxham Road.
They used a cone filled with concrete to smash the front door and then they crawled in through a hole.
The burglars then pulled the safe off the wall and pulled open drawers in an apparent search for cash.
They damaged internal doors and left paperwork strewn around but did not manage to get in to the main nursery or a filing cabinet containing information on the children.
The break-in occurred between 8pm on Monday and 7.30am on Tuesday.
The nursery - which should have had about 20 under fives in on Tuesday - had to stay shut due to security issues but has re-opened.
The nursery has been open about fours years and director Jenny Watson said: 'We are devastated because we are a small children's day nursery and we do not expect people to break in. It is unbelievable that they can do it.'
Manager Tonya Watson added: 'We have re-opened thanks to staff and the carpenter Darren George. We would also like to express our thanks to all parents who were understanding and for the support they gave us.'
