Another local authority has thrown its weight behind the Just Dual It campaign.

Breckland Council agreed its support at a full council meeting this week to encourage the government to pump millions into the A47 to make it a dual carriageway.

At the moment only 47pc of one of the most important roads in the region is dualled and while £300m of improvements are in the pipeline, only eight futher miles will be dualled.

Breckland Council's leader William Nunn said: 'Breckland Council fully supports the Just Dual It campaign. Improving this essential infrastructure will bring benefits to residents, visitors and businesses alike.

'Making journeys shorter and safer can only be a good thing and improving Norfolk's connectivity with the rest of the country is essential to our ongoing success and future prosperity.'

The campaign, spearheaded by the Eastern Daily Press, Norfolk County Council and the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce, aims to eventually get the entire 115-mile road dualled.
